Το Πανόραμα Ευρωπαϊκού Κινηματογράφου, πιστό στην υπεράσπιση των κινηματογραφικών ειδών από τον πρώτο χρόνο της ύπαρξής του, έχει μια ακόμα έκπληξη στο φετινό πρόγραμμά του: επτά φιλμ νουάρ στα οποία οι γυναίκες κυριολεκτικά "πρωταγωνιστούν". Άλλοτε ως θύτες, άλλοτε ως θύματα, άλλοτε ως θύτες και θύματα συγχρόνως, κι άλλοτε ως ανεξάρτητες και χειραφετημένες, οι μοιραίες γυναίκες των φιλμ νουάρ προσφέρουν ένα καλειδοσκόπιο με πολλαπλά πρόσωπα και προσωπεία, συμπληρωματικά και αντιφατικά, αμφισβητώντας κάποια γνωστά στερεότυπα. Η επιλογή των ταινιών ξεφεύγει από τα γνωστά κλασικά φιλμ νουάρ που έχουμε δει πολλές φορές, και εστιάζει κυρίως σε ταινίες σπάνιες, ακόμα και για τους μυημένους. Επίσης, το αφιέρωμα δεν περιλαμβάνει μόνο ταινίες αμερικανικής παραγωγής (3) αλλά και 4 εξαιρετικά ενδιαφέρουσες αγγλικής παραγωγής, ενώ δύο ταινίες δεν έχουν προβληθεί ποτέ στη χώρα μας.

Αρχικά βοηθός σκηνοθέτης, και στη συνέχεια σκηνοθέτης ο ίδιος, για 13 χρόνια στη Φίνος Φιλμ, ο αντικομφορμιστής, μοναχικός σκηνοθέτης Σταύρος Τσιώλης (1937-2019) αποσύρθηκε για μια δεκαπενταετία από τον κινηματογράφο πριν επιστρέψει ξανά, για να ξεκινήσει τη δίκη του, καθαρά προσωπική πορεία, σ’ ένα κινηματογράφο μακριά από τις αποπνικτικές, συχνά απαράδεκτες απαιτήσεις των παραγωγών, για να μας προσφέρει μια σειρά ταινίες, από το «Μια τόσο μακρινή απουσία» (1985) μέχρι το «Γυναίκες που περάσατε από δω» (2017), ταινίες, δοσμένες με ειλικρίνεια και πάθος, πάνω σ’ έναν κόσμο κι έναν τρόπο ζωής, που ο ίδιος έβλεπε μέσα από την κάμερα, με μια καθαρά δική του, αθώα ματιά. Ταινίες ενός ιδιαίτερα αγαπητού φίλου, δοσμένες με την ευγένεια και το λεπτό χιούμορ που τον χαρακτήριζαν, με δικά του σενάρια, με αυτοσχέδιους διαλόγους και ηθοποιούς συχνά ερασιτέχνες, με μια γραφή λιτή, άμεση, από την οποία δεν έλειπαν η φαντασία και η ποίηση.

ΑΦΙΕΡΩΜΑ ΣΤΟΝ ΝΤΙΝΟ ΚΑΤΣΟΥΡΙΔΗ

Ο Ντίνος Κατσουρίδης έχει μια ξεχωριστή, μοναδική θα έλεγα, θέση στην ιστορία του ελληνικού κινηματογράφου. Αρχικά μοντέρ, σε συνολικά 79 ταινίες, έχοντας αρχίσει την καριέρα του το 1952 (με την ταινία «Ο γρουσούζης» του Γιώργου Τζαβέλα), παράλληλα διευθυντής φωτογραφίας από το 1955 (με 49 συνολικά ταινίες), για να στραφεί τελικά και στη σκηνοθεσία, από το 1960, χωρίς όμως να εγκαταλείπει και τα διάφορα άλλα τμήματα της μιας ταινίας - άλλοτε κάνοντας τον παραγωγό, χρηματοδοτώντας ταινίες κι άλλοτε φτιάχνοντας και τα ντεκόρ, χωρίς, τις τελευταίες δεκαετίες της ζωής του να ξεχνά και τους μικρομηκαδες, στους οποίους (μέσω ενός βραβείου που θέσπισε στο Φεστιβάλ Δράμας) πρόσφερε δωρεάν τεχνική υποστήριξη στις ταινίες τους, τολμώντας ακόμη να δοκιμάσει τις δυνάμεις του και στο νέο ελληνικό κινηματογράφο.

Με την πρώτη του σκηνοθεσία, το «Έγκλημα στα Παρασκήνια», από το βιβλίο του Γιάννη Μαρή, ήταν από τους πρώτους που εισήγαγαν το φιλμ νουάρ στην ελληνική φιλμογραφία. Σύντομα όμως θα στραφεί στην κωμωδία όπου και θα ξεχωρίσει με μερικές από τις καλύτερες ταινίες του είδους, ιδιαίτερα με ταινίες με πρωταγωνιστή τον Θανάση Βέγγο («Θανάση πάρε το όπλο σου», «Ο Θανάσης στη χώρα της σφαλιάρας», «Ο παλαβός κόσμος του Θανάση», «Ο Θανάσης και το καταραμένο φίδι», κ.ά.).

Το Πανόραμα, του οποίου ο Ντίνος ήταν από τους πιο ένθερμους υποστηρικτές του, έχει στο παρελθόν παρουσιάσει τη σκηνοθετική δουλειά του, γι’ αυτό, για τα δέκα χρόνια από το θάνατό του, αποφασίσαμε, για την εκδήλωση του 2021, να παρουσιάσουμε ένα μικρό δείγμα από την υπόλοιπη δουλειά του: με την ταινία «120 Ντεσιμπέλ» του Βασίλη Βαφέα, σκηνοθέτη με τον οποίο ο Ντίνος συνεργάστηκε αρκετές φορές, και στην οποία ο Ντίνος προσφέρει οχι μόνο την ιδιότητα του διευθυντή φωτογραφίας αλλά και εκείνη του μοντέρ!

Η ΕΛΛΑΔΑ ΣΤΟΝ ΞΕΝΟ ΚΙΝΗΜΑΤΟΓΡΑΦΟ

Δεν είναι λίγες οι φορές που η χώρα μας προσέλκυσε ξένους κινηματογραφιστές, συχνά, πρέπει να πω για τις τουριστικές ατραξιόν της, αλλά και για χώρους περιπέτειας και κυνηγητών. Υπάρχουν όμως και ταινίες δεμένες για λόγους πιο ουσιαστικούς με την Ελλάδα και την ιστορία της. Από αυτές διαλέξαμε δυο ταινίες:

τη «Φεντόρα» (1978), προτελευταία ταινία που γύρισε ο Μπίλι Γουάιλντερ, γύρω από τη ζωή μιας διάσημης σταρ που αποφασίζει να αποσυρθεί σ´ ένα ελληνικό νησί (έμπνευση φαίνεται πως στάθηκε η Γκάρμπο), στο οποίο καταφθάνει ένας παραγωγός του Χόλιγουντ για να την πείσει να επιστρέψει στην οθόνη - τα παρασκήνια της ιστορίας μπορεί κανείς να τα διαβάσει στο ωραίο βιβλίο «Ο κύριος Γουάιλντερ κι εγώ» του Τζόναθαν Κόου, που κυκλοφόρησε μόλις πρόσφατα.

και την πρώτη σκηνοθεσία του Βέρνερ Χέρτσογκ, «Σημάδια ζωής» (1968) γύρω από τρεις Γερμανούς που φυλάνε ένα απομακρυσμένο, άχρηστο φυλάκιο στην Κω.

Στο πρόγραμμα και η ελληνική ταινία «Κανείς δεν χάνει σ’ όλα» (2000) του Διονύση Γρηγοράτου, τρίτο μέρος ενός τρίπτυχου γύρω από τη σύγχρονη ιστορία μας, τη φορά αυτή τοποθετημένη σε ένα πολύ κοντινό δυστοπικό μέλλον, με την κοινωνία μας να κινδυνεύει από μια οικολογική καταστροφή.

Οι Ειδικές Προβολές κλείνουν με την προβολή της εξαιρετικής, δυστυχώς υποτιμημένης την εποχή της, ταινίας «Dune» (1984) του Ντέιβιντ Λιντς, που θα δώσει στους θεατές την ευκαιρία (ιδιαίτερα στη νεότερη γενιά που δεν γνωρίζει αυτή την κινηματογραφική μεταφορά) να δουν και να απολαύσουν την πρώτη βερσιόν της κινηματογράφησης του εμβληματικού έργου του Φρανκ Χέρμπερτ.

«Περπατώντας σε τεντωμένο σκοινί» θα μπορούσε να είναι ο τίτλος του 34ου Πανοράματος Ευρωπαϊκού Κινηματογράφου. Τίτλος παρμένος από το φιλμ νουάρ «Walk a Tightrope» που προβάλλεται στο φετινό αφιέρωμα στο φιλμ νουάρ. Γιατί, με τη συνέχιση της πανδημίας και την κορύφωση της μετάλλαξης Όμικρον, ο χώρος του κινηματογράφου περνάει τις πιο δύσκολες μέρες του. Και παρόλο που οι άνθρωποί του αναγκάζονται να περπατάνε σε τεντωμένο σκοινί, η σοδειά της χρονιάς που πέρασε κατάφερε, όπως θα δούμε από τις νέες ταινίες που προβάλλουμε, να παραμείνει σε -παρόμοιο με προηγούμενες χρονιές- υψηλό επίπεδο.

Με ταινίες που, όπως και στο παρελθόν, καλύπτουν ένα μεγάλο φάσμα του ευρωπαϊκού – μαζί, πάντα, και του ελληνικού – κινηματογράφου. Ταινίες που δείχνουν πως ο ευρωπαϊκός κινηματογράφος, παρά τα προβλήματα και τα διάφορα εμπόδια, εξακολουθεί να καταπιάνεται με τους προβληματισμούς αλλά και τις καλλιτεχνικές αναζητήσεις των δημιουργών του, παραμένοντας πάντα στην πρωτοπορία μιας τέχνης που εκφράζει με τον καλύτερο και πιο αποτελεσματικό τρόπο, τα επίκαιρα και καυτά θέματα της σύγχρονης κοινωνίας μας.

Ο ελληνικός κινηματογράφος έχει και πάλι ξεχωριστή θέση στο φετινό Πανόραμα με το αφιέρωμα στον Σταύρο Τσιώλη, από τους μοναχικούς, αντικομφορμιστές σκηνοθέτες που, όπως ο Τάκης Κανελλόπουλος και ο Σταύρος Τορνές στο παρελθόν, κατάφερε, παρά τις δυσκολίες και τις αντιξοότητες, να μας προσφέρει ένα σημαντικό έργο, μέσα από ταινίες που ξεχωρίζουν τόσο για το εντελώς προσωπικό τους στιλ όσο και για το χιούμορ και τη φρεσκάδα τους και τον ιδιαίτερο τρόπο γυρίσματος, με τους αυτοσχεδιασμούς και τη συχνή χρήση ερασιτεχνών ηθοποιών.

Στο αφιέρωμα «Τα κακά κορίτσια» του φιλμ νουάρ», με το φακό να στρέφεται στις femmes fatales, τις «μοιραίες γυναίκες» των βουτηγμένων σε μαύρη ατμόσφαιρα θρίλερ των δεκαετιών του ’40 και ‘50, επιλέξαμε, τη φορά αυτή, όχι τα γνωστά, κλασικά φιλμ νουάρ, που βρίσκονται σε διαρκή κυκλοφορία, αλλά μερικά από τα πιο άγνωστα, αλλά το ίδιο συναρπαστικά φιλμ, που εξακολουθούν να έχουν τη δική τους γοητεία και ομορφιά.

Με τις Ειδικές Προβολές μας δίνεται η ευκαιρία να απολαύσουμε δύο ταινίες γυρισμένες στην Ελλάδα, την ταινία «Σημάδια ζωής» που γύρισε ο Βέρνερ Χέρτσοκ στην Κρήτη και τη «Φεντόρα» που ο Μπίλι Γουάιλντερ γύρισε στην Κέρκυρα. Ενώ, μετά την πρόσφατη προβολή του ριμέικ του “Dune” από τον Ντενί Βιλνέβ δίνουμε την ευκαιρία στους θεατές να δουν ή και να ξαναδούν την πρώτη, συναρπαστική, άδικα υποτιμημένη, βερσιόν που γύρισε το 1984 ο Ντέιβιντ Λιντς. Με τον Διονύση Γρηγοράτο να μας μιλάει, στην ταινία φαντασίας «Κανείς δεν χάνει σ’ όλα», που εκτυλίσσεται σε ένα όχι και τόσο μακρινό μέλλον, για τα ραδιενεργά απόβλητα και τους φορείς ραδιενέργειας. Στις Ειδικές Προβολές και ένα μικρό αφιέρωμα στον Ντίνο Κατσουρίδη, που το 2021 έκλεισαν δέκα χρόνια από το θάνατό του. Έναν σημαντικό άνθρωπο του ελληνικού κινηματογράφου, που εκτός από το σκηνοθετικό του έργο, ήταν και εξαιρετικός διευθυντής φωτογραφίας και μοντέρ – δυο επαγγέλματα που υπηρετεί έξοχα στην ταινία «120 ντεσιμπέλ» του Βασίλη Βαφέα. Παρόντες στο πρόγραμμα και οι Έλληνες μικρομηκάδες που εκπροσωπούνται φέτος με τις ταινίες της σχολής του New York College.

Κι αν δυστυχώς, για δεύτερη και πάλι φορά, αναγκαστήκαμε να διοργανώσουμε το 34ο Πανόραμα διαδικτυακά, τουλάχιστον δίνουμε, όπως και πέρσι, την ευκαιρία στο κινηματογραφόφιλο κοινό ΟΛΗΣ της Ελλάδας κι όχι μόνο της Αθήνας να δει και να απολαύσει τις διάφορες προβολές του. Με την ελπίδα σε μια επιστροφή στην αίθουσα με το 35ο εορταστικό Πανόραμα που προγραμματίζεται για το τέλος της χρονιάς, σας περιμένουμε από τις 27 Ιανουαρίου μέχρι και τις 2 Φεβρουαρίου να ανακαλύψουμε μαζί, όχι μόνο ότι καινούργιο μας επιφυλάσσει ο σύγχρονος ευρωπαϊκός κινηματογράφος (από τον οποίο αντλεί και εξακολουθεί να επηρεάζεται ο υπόλοιπος κινηματογράφος και όχι μόνο), αλλά και ό,τι μας έχει μέχρι σήμερα προσφέρει η συναρπαστική ιστορία του.

In an ordinary moment of his daily life, a pianist, while looking for a forgotten melody, digs up traumatic memories of the past. He is 44 years old and blind. In the submerged darkness, an empty frame in the hands of the hero, takes us back in time. It leads him to the haunted, forgotten melody and brings him out of the darkness in a lyrical and unexpectedly liberating way. The trauma, miraculously, becomes one with the keys of the black piano and leads to cleansing. There is a melodic journey to the light, a journey into the spotlight of the last performance.

Iordanis Finos (born Iordanis Dimitsanis) was an ambitious director in order to create a movement similar to the Nouvelle Vague in Greek territory. A fatal accident during the shooting of his first film brought death to him and his crew, leaving the film halfway through. The accident occurred on May 20, 1979. On January 28, 2021, ARRI launched Spectraflex, a camera capable of capturing spectral debris, also known as ghosts. This documentary is an exclusive interview with Iordanis Finos about his film, art and life.

A wounded German paratrooper named Stroszek is sent to the quiet island of Kos with his wife Nora, a Greek nurse, and two other soldiers recovering from minor wounds. Billeted in a decaying fortress, they guard a munitions depot. There's little to do: Becker, a classicist, translates inscriptions on ancient tablets found in the fortress, Meinhart devises traps for cockroaches, Nora helps Stroszek make fireworks using gunpowder from grenades in the depot. Slowly, in the heat and torpor, Stroszek goes mad, drives the others from the fortress, and threatens the city with blowing up the depot. With care, the German command must figure out how to get him down.

A village in Arcadia invites a "famous" icon painter and his assistant, Theofanis and Theodosios, to restore the worn-out murals in an historic church. Theofanis is an amateur astronomer, and Theodosis is involved in various scams. A pure young girl is apprenticed to them. The villagers flock to the church calling them saints, but in reality they are two minor con artists, who falsely philosophize, observe with their telescope the curves of the women and organize a false auction. With the arrival of winter, the miracles end, and the "cobblers realize they should stick to their last.

Panagiotis and Giannis are two good friends but also rivals in love. The first is a merchant and the second a violinist; one is tall and slim and the other short and fat; one is bossy, the other one mild. Both make an inimitable comic couple, wandering in the Peloponnese, looking for a date tree that will prove the innocence or guilt of the wife of one of them and possibly lover of the other. They are guided by an old picture depicting Panagiotis' wife, Maria, in the arms of Giannis, under a date tree. However, the area of their search, there are no date trees.
