Although she loves her husband dearly, she constantly fantasizes having sex with strangers in order to entertain her sexual needs and desires. When she finds out that an old acquaintance of hers, Henriette is working as a prostitute in a high-class brothel in Paris she doesn’t hesitate to visit the brothel. Although at first feels a little uncomfortable with both the thought and the actual action of having sex with men for money, soon Séverine is hired to work at her obsessive profession as a prostitute herself with the nickname «Belle de Jour» as she works only in the afternoons. Her life takes a turn when a client, Marcel, falls in love with her and decides to claim her.

The ‘’Globe’’ is a small, but visionary newspaper started by Phineas Mitchell, an editor recently fired by ‘’The Star’’. The two newspapers become enemies and the’’ Star’s’’ ruthless heiress Charity Hackett decides to eliminate the competition.

Chronicling the trial of Joan of Arc in the final hours leading up to her execution, Dreyer depicts her torment in his film, a landmark of cinema and one of the best silent films ever made, not only due to its production, but mainly due to Dreyer’s expressionistic lighting and painfully intimate close-ups. The screenplay was based largely on a contemporary transcript of Joan’s trial for heresy which led to her execution. Renée Maria Falconetti’s portrayal of Joan is considered one of the best on-screen performances in the history of cinema, and far ahead of her time.

Nana’s story told in twelve brief episodes. Nana, a beautiful Parisian in her early twenties dreams of becoming an actress. After failing in fulfilling her dream of becoming a film star she drifts into prostitution in order to make ends meet. She meets a pimp called Raul. But when she attempts to break away, nothing will go as planned.

An odd group of people find themselves aboard ‘’The Ghost’’, a sealing schooner captained by the hard taskmaster, Wolf Larson. George Leach is on the run from the police as is Ruth Webster who has escaped from a women’s penitentiary. Also aboard is a young writer, Humphrey van Weyden. He and Webster were fished out of the sea and Larson refuses to put them ashore. Larson is a cruel brute who will have his sailors beaten for the smallest infraction. The three try to escape but without success…

In reality, the deputy’s death was murder orchestrated by the secret police. Thrown into the mix is a photojournalist who’s looking for the truth.

Through all this runs the stormy relationship between Morgan and Marie “Slim” Browning, a resistance sympathizer and the sassy singer in the club where Morgan spends most of his days…

Set in the days of Holy Easter, the film, a seemingly melodramatic story, becomes an allegory of Greek society at the time of the junta. Katina, an impoverished Greek woman, tries to arrange the marriage of her shepherd son, Thanos, to Despina, the daughter of a wealthy landowner. But Despina’s father, refuses to give his blessings and wants Despina to marry a more wealthy gentleman, named Yankos. The wealthy and spoiled Yankos plots to break up the romantic union between Thanos and Despina, while the young lovers plot to run away.

Elisabet Vogler is a famous actress who suddenly becomes mute on stage during a performance of Elektra. The young actress becomes catatonic refusing to talk or move. After spending three months in a psychiatric hospital the doctors are determined that Elizabet’s condition is due to the lack of willpower, so she is sent to a secluded seaside house for recovery with Alma to look after her. The two women spend a lot of time alone together and soon form a powerful bond.

Hamdias, a film director, has just started filming a movie whose main theme is torture. During filming the limits between reality and fiction seem to gradually vanish. The film is soon interrupted, mainly because Hamdias is killed under tragic circumstances. After a while, Gaila, his girlfriend and also the main actress of his film, sets about continuing his work...a deeply disturbing film about human frame of mind which, at its first screening in April 1976, was withdrawn from the three Parisian cinemas in less than a week.

In particular, the film focuses on his ephemeral and turbulent relationship with Arab Abdullah who, shortly after his separation with Genet, ended his life since he couldn’t bare the rejection of his former mentor and lover.

Irene and Stella are two sisters who grew up in the province and now live in Athens. They stay in an apartment overlooking a summer cinema. They are approaching forty; they are still virgins and dependent on one another. Their only relative, their cousin Stephanos, with whom they were both in love, is living in Paris. When he returns and visits them, the balance between them is disrupted. Stephanos convinces Irini to leave with him, and Stella commits suicide.
