Although at first feels a little uncomfortable with both the thought and the actual action of having sex with men for money, soon Séverine is hired to work at her obsessive profession as a prostitute herself with the nickname «Belle de Jour» as she works only in the afternoons. Her life takes a turn when a client, Marcel, falls in love with her and decides to claim her.

Chronicling the trial of Joan of Arc in the final hours leading up to her execution, Dreyer depicts her torment in his film, a landmark of cinema and one of the best silent films ever made, not only due to its production, but mainly due to Dreyer’s expressionistic lighting and painfully intimate close-ups. The screenplay was based largely on a contemporary transcript of Joan’s trial for heresy which led to her execution. Renée Maria Falconetti’s portrayal of Joan is considered one of the best on-screen performances in the history of cinema, and far ahead of her time.

Nana’s story told in twelve brief episodes. Nana, a beautiful Parisian in her early twenties dreams of becoming an actress. But when she attempts to break away, nothing will go as planned.

He and Webster were fished out of the sea and Larson refuses to put them ashore. Larson is a cruel brute who will have his sailors beaten for the smallest infraction. The three try to escape but without success…

The two women spend a lot of time alone together and soon form a powerful bond.
