The wife of an alcoholic and mother of four children works at a factory in Corfu in the early 20th century. A fallen nobleman wants to marry the older daughter and take advantage of their few economies. So he kidnaps the daughter and negotiates the dowry with her mother. But the girl refuses to marry him when she wakes up to the fact that he is only looking out for his own interests. She then decides to start working in order to earn money to raise the child she is expecting. The film is based on the novel ‘The Price and Money’ by Konstantinos Theotokis.

The film won 7 awards at The Ministry of Culture State Awards: Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Actress, Best Music, Best Cinematography, Best Costumes and Best Make-up.
