Immanuel Rath is a strict and conservative professor with a well ordered life. When he discovers that some of his students have been spending much of their time at a sleazy cabaret called The Blue Angel he decides to pay a visit to the establishment. There he falls in love with the cabaret singer Lola and his life soon spins dangerously out of control with devastating consequences.

The film is the first feature-length German full-talkie and brought Marlene Dietrich international fame. Based on Heinrich Mann’s 1905 novel ‘’Professor Unrat’’.
