Α revealing and intimate portrait of the writer, poet and circus lover ("because you are really in danger of killing yourself", as he said) Jean Genet during the least productive (concerning his writing) period of his life where he used his art and philosophy to lead his lovers towards perfection. In particular, the film focuses on his ephemeral and turbulent relationship with Arab Abdullah who, shortly after his separation with Genet, ended his life since he couldn’t bare the rejection of his former mentor and lover.

The film was an official participation at the Venice Film Festival (1991).
